This document explains why some games that are in MAME, are also in MisfitMAME.

The most common reason is the mame game provides a parent to misfitmame clones.

Some games are here because they have been added to mame later and i'm not aware
of the fact. Also, I will make sure that the game in mame works at least as good
as in misfitmame. The checking is done at each full mame release. As i'm not a
mamedev, i do not watch mame closely for game changes or additions. You may need to
point out mame changes to me.

The remaining games are here because they provide features not available in mame.

Mame is all about accuracy. This intimates, therefore, that one will have circuit
diagrams and real arcade machines handy. That one will have all kinds of data
sheets at one's disposal. However, I do not have access to such resources. And so,
all of my "improvements" are largely guesswork and logic. There is little or no
proof that it is correct. Therefore there is no point me asking to have my code
included in mame.

On the other hand, my "improvements" are based on the sincere belief that this is
how the actual game worked. It isn't to just make it nicer or whatever (except
where noted with *).

The list below does not include parents. It also doesn't include those which I'm
unaware of being in mame.


Meaning of symbols:
a - added or fixed cocktail mode
b - added or fixed dipswitches
c - colours have been added or improved
d - documentation has been added
p - pending removal after checking against next full mame release
s - sound has been added or improved

- sf2m1 - mame has black screen. It works in misfitmame. The audience in front of
          the building is missing.

- sf2m3 - mame has black screen. It works in misfitmame. Sprite issues.

- sf2mdt - mame has no sound, incorrect priorities, bad screen offset, dipswitches
           are not connected. These are all fixed in misfitmame, however the sound
           emulation is not complete.

- dkongex - mame has dkongf, but the levels are in a different order.

galaga.c
- mame has no explosion sound for bootlegs. It works in misfitmame.



galaxian.c
- mooncmw - mame has bad graphics. Fixed in misfitmame.

- monsterz - mame shows screen full of zeroes. In misfitmame it is playable but has
             wrong colours and no sound.

- jumpbug - the game is capable of making explosions and other additional sounds.
            They are hooked up in misfitmame.(*)

- pacman clones - mame cuts off the sprites at the top and bottom. Fixed in misfitmame.

- bagmanmc - mame has wrong colours and a rom is missing. The misfitmame equivalent
             "bagmanm2" is complete and working.


galxwars.c
- Galaxy Wars - c,d



gottlieb.c
- qbert and reactor - mame does not speak all the votrax sounds, and it prints messages
                      onto the screen. Fixed in misfitmame.


invaders.c
- This is a tidy rendition of mame mw8080.c and 8080.c, containing just invader-style games.
  All the games work, have sound and cocktail mode. However, only improved/new games are enabled.
