file : readme.txt author : rtw created: 2017-08-17 version: 1.1 VIRTUA FIGHTER 4 EVOLUTION Title : VF4 EVOLUTION System : NAOMI2 Disc Id : GDS-0024C PIC key is the same as: GDS-0024B From MetalliC: Even though the game id is: GDS-0024C the game title is still "(Version B)" This probably signifies that there were no changes to game mechanics. This version was released one and a half month later than Rev B (3 Nov 2002) difference: - updated card reader interface board MIE firmware (small board "between" Naomi Maple and RF card reader, uses same MIE MCU as Naomi mobo) - minor tweaks in few Maple interface handling routines, probably related to above. In general it looks like Rev B had some card reader issues, they were resolved/fixed in the Rev C update VF4 MIE MCU firmwares comparison - has 3 fixes in total: 1. More robust maple data packet receive routine, it seems there were some bugs or complexities in hardware, related to status bits "we received some data" and "data receive was complete", so in updated FW they check both 2. In one of command handlers they forgot to copy/backup input parameter before clear of recv buffer 3. Incorrect handling of "counter decrement" RFID command reply (not used in VF games) - they forgot to fetch from UART FIFO last reply byte No gameplay changes, at least I see no changes in SH4 code section except several low-level Maple interface routines. I can't understand meaning of these changes, but in theory, these changes may also improve/decrease input latency, since both JVS and RFID accessed via same Maple interface.
